HENRY V ('44) TC LC

BOOK SOLD OUT
The image at right appears in the book we published as shown above. While we once owned this item, we did not auction it through eMoviePoster.com (which is why no price or date is listed) nor do we have it available for purchase.

The Chronicle History of King Henry the Fifth with His Battell Fought at Agincourt in France (released in the U.S. in 1947 as "William Shakespeare's Henry V"), the classic 1944 Laurence Olivier English adaptation-of-the-classic-play-by-William-Shakespeare (nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award) starring Leslie Banks, Felix Aylmer, Laurence Olivier (nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film; in the title role as King Henry V of England), Robert Helpmann, Vernon Greeves, Gerald Case, George Robey (as Sir John Falstaff), Freda Jackson, and Renee Asherson. Note that the IMDb says that this movie was released in the U.S. in 1946, but we know that there are lobby cards and stills that are dated both 1944 and 1945, so there was at least an intended release late in 1944 or in early 1945. We wonder if perhaps it first played in very limited release in late 1944 in the U.S. and that there was at least a further limited release in 1947. We know that it received a full scale re-release from United Artists in 1950, but that could have been its first major U.S. release. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here.
