Le Mepris (released in English-speaking countries as "Contempt"), the 1963 (released in the U.S. in 1964) Jean-Luc Godard French/Italian movie-making romantic love triangle melodrama ("Bardot is the body beautiful... she knows it... and she shows it!"; "Based on the novel by Alberto Moravia"; a very complex story about a screenwriter who is assigned by his producer to make a screenplay of "The Odyssey" more commercial, and he has a beautiful young wife who believes he wants her to sleep with the producer to help his career) starring Brigitte Bardot, Jack Palance, Michel Piccoli, Fritz Lang, and Giorgia Moll. Note that the director of the movie-within-the-movie is identified as Fritz Lang, and the legendary director plays himself!

Important Added Info: Note that this poster has the same artwork as the original French poster, but the colors are far more vibrant than the original French poster's! Also note that this is an advance English double crown (note the "From 13th September for two weeks only" at the bottom of the poster).

UPDATED 03/25/2014: Note that a knowledgeable collector pointed out that the British Film Institute celebrated 100 years of cinema in 1995 (the 100th anniversary of the opening of the Lumiere brothers theater in Paris). Which means that this poster is most likely from a circa 1995 re-release and not 1980s as we initially listed.
