An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Mexican Movie Poster (measures 27" x 36 1/2" [69 x 93 cm]) (Learn More) Carlos Gardel was a French Argentinean singer, songwriter, composer, and actor from the 1910s to the 1930s. Many consider him to be the most prominent figure in the history of tango. Some of his movies include: The Big Broadcast of 1936, Tango Bar, and Las Luces de Buenos Aires. Tragically, Gardel passed away in an airplane crash in 1935 at the height of his career in 1935. He was 44 years old. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this is an extremely rare poster. We have never auctioned one in all our years of auctioning! Note also that this poster has been trimmed and it now measures 27" x 36 1/2" [69 x 93 cm]. Condition: fair. This Mexican poster is EXTREMELY fragile. Mexican posters were printed on a paper stock that often ages very poorly, and also darkens. This poster has darkened somewhat and is more fragile along the foldlines. The poster has been bordered by tape (not put there for any restoration purpose) and there are some water stains scattered in various areas and some brown paint stains in the upper quarter (see our image) as well as some other defects that can be clearly seen in our super-sized image. Please see our super-sized image to get a good sense of the condition of this item prior to placing a bid and please do not bid unless you can accept the defects described above, or you are willing to pay to have them properly restored.
