Date Sold 8/4/2019Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) Something to Think About, the 1920 Cecil B. DeMille silent romantic love triangle unwed mother melodrama ("It pictures life as we live it. Making an appeal to the emotions none can resist."; "By Jeanie Macpherson"; about a rich man in a small town who finances the education of the blacksmith's daughter; when she returns, he wants to marry her, but she runs off with another; however, he is killed, and she is pregnant and unmarried, and the rich man offers to marry her "in name only", in order to avoid scandal) starring Elliott Dexter, Gloria Swanson, Monte Blue, Theodore Roberts, and Claire McDowell. Note that Elliott Dexter's character was described as a wealthy "cripple", but that was only because Dexter was, in real life, recovering from a stroke at the time, and DeMille used his lameness in the story line! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that first release 1920 movie paper from this movie is incredibly rare. We have only previously auctioned a window card, two lobby cards, and a few stills from this movie until we received this lobby card! Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has. Condition: good. The card had darkened. It had a few pinholes, small tears, and tiny paper loss around the edges, and a few pinholes scattered in the image. Overall, the card was in good condition prior to restoration. A talented restorer gel backed the card (meaning they backed the card onto a gel material) and they then performed restoration to the above defects, and then removed the gel backing, so that the card still looks and feels like an original card (and it is!), with no backing at all. Given the card's defects described above, the restorer did a pretty good job, but you can see signs of the defects and the restoration, but the card displays pretty well (see our super-sized images to get a good sense of exactly how the card looks now).
