An Original Vintage Theatrical Autographed Movie Lobby Card #4 (measures 11" x 14") (Learn More)

Loving You, the 1957 Hal Kanter rock 'n' roll (rock and roll) musical ("From a story by Mary Agnes Thompson"; loosely based on Elvis' own life, about a gas station attendant who is discovered by a publicist and a country western musician who then promote him into a rock 'n' roll star) starring Elvis Presley, Lizabeth Scott, Wendell Corey, James Gleason, Ralph Dumke, Paul Smith, Dolores Hart, Ken Becker, and Jana Lund. Note that producer Hal Wallis intended this to be the first Elvis film. However, six months before the start of production, Wallis loaned Elvis to 20th Century Fox for the 1956 film "Love Me Tender". Also, note that Elvis' parents made a cameo appearance in the movie as audience members in a theater. After his mother died, Elvis refused to ever watch the movie again, saying it was too sad for him to see his mother! Also note that this was the second of four movies that Elvis made before he went into the Army in 1958. He made no movies in 1959, and the public so wanted to see one that Paramount gave this movie and King Creole a full scale double-bill re-release just one and two years after they were made, with new posters for each, and the tagline "Elvis Presley back on the screen for the first time in a year"!

Important Added Info: Note that there is clear tape on the back of the extreme edge of each of the four borders (it was placed there to repair some tiny tears and creases in the front in the blank borders. There is also a 8" piece of clear tape across the upper part of the back of the card, which was placed there for no known reason. None of the tape on the back affects the front at all. Also note that this lobby card has been personally autographed (signed) by Elvis Presley!

Note that I have received many inquiries about how I know the signature on this lobby card is authentic (note that I do not believe in COA's, Certificates of Authenticity, because a person who would lie about authenticity would also surely lie on the certificate as well!). I received this lobby card on consignment from one of the foremost collector/dealers of lobby cards, who has bought and sold them for many decades. I called him and asked him to tell me where he purchased this card, and he told me the following: "I bought the card around 5 years ago at a Memphis collectibles show. An old fellow came in with just this lobby card, and told me how he had come to own it. He said that in 1957 he was in the Army in Memphis, and that he was on leave, and he passed a movie theater where they were having a special showing of 'Loving You', just for Elvis and his buddies. He walked by just as Elvis was walking in, and Elvis saw the soldier standing alone, and told him he could come in and watch the movie, which of course, he did! After watching the movie, Elvis came over to him and gave him this lobby card, which he then signed to him." My consignor was familiar with Elvis' signature, and since the signature on this card looked like it should, and since he found this man to be very credible, he gladly purchased the card. He (and I) have no way of PROVING beyond a shadow of a doubt that this card has an authentic signature, but unless the fellow who sold him the card was a complete nut or a real crook, it seems exceptionally likely that it is authentic, as the story "rings true" (it certainly sounds like Elvis to be nice to a lonely soldier on leave), and the man WAS from Memphis. But please do not bid on this card unless you can accept the uncertainty as to the authenticity of the autograph (but, real or not, it sure will make a great display on someone's wall!).
