An Original Vintage Comic Book (measures approximately 7 1/8" x 10 1/4") (Learn More)

Three Dimensional E.C. Classics (title changed to "Three Dimensional Tales from the Crypt of Terror" for issue #2) was an intended quarterly comic book anthology series published in 1954 that only lasted for 2 issues (when the 3-D craze died!). This comic was published by Bill Gaines (William Gaines) through his company, EC Comics (E.C. Comics), which he inherited from his father in 1947. The stories it contained were classics in the sense that they were recycled stories that had appeared in earlier EC comic books, but all new artwork was created for these books, rather than applying the 3-D process to the original illustrations of the stories. They were three-dimensional because they were presented in Anaglyph 3-D, and two 3-D viewers ("glasses") were included with each issue, but very often, the comics are found without those "glasses".

Artist: Al Feldstein
Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned one example of this comic book, and it sold for $205 (and that example was missing one pair of glasses), this example does not have either pair.

Contents: "V-Vampires" (art by Wally Wood, story from Mad 3), "The Monster From the Fourth Dimension" (art by Bernard Krigstein, story from Weird Science # &), "Frank Luke" (art by George Evans, story from Frontline Combat # 13), and "Mr. Biddy, Killer" (art by Graham Ingels, story from Crime SuspenStories 5). Stories redrawn to 3-D format. Original stories not necessarily by the artists here. Series continues as Three Dimensional Tales From the Crypt. Harvey Kurtzman cover. Cover price $0.25.

Please note that we don't use a "comic guide" grading system, and OUR grading scale is completely different from standard comic book grading. Our "very good" is completely different from a comic book graded "very good". Note that this comic book will be sent to the winning bidder in a brand new Mylite4 protective sleeve and a full-back 100% acid-free backing board.

Note: We have 21 images of this comic book, but due to a space limitation, only TEN of the 21 images are displayed above. However, there is a "supersize" link to the right of those images that lets you see the other 11.

Note that due to the greater interest in this comic we have pictured EVERY single page of this comic, which means that you can see EVERY defect the comic has, AND get a good sense of its condition. While we gave the comic an overall condition grade (and sometimes describe the defects in words) please rely on the actual images of the comic to help you decide what YOU think its condition is, and then bid or not bid based on what you are seeing in the images. And if you have ANY doubt as to what the condition of the comic is, or whether you want it in the condition it is is, then please do not bid, as we do not want any retracted bids or returns if at all possible. If in doubt, do not bid!.

Condition: fair to good, with old restoration. The covers were separated at the spine, and there were tears and some tiny areas of paper loss in the spine and in parts of the borders of both covers. Someone used tape, glue, and touch up to "restore" the covers. Note that a replacement pair of 3-D glasses will be included, because the original two pair are missing, to help the new owner view the comic.
