R40s Vintage Theatrical Folded One-Sheet Movie Poster (27" x 41") (Learn More) Flash Gordon's Trip to Mars, the 1938 Ford Beebe & Robert F. Hill science fiction (sci-fi) fantasy outer space adventure serial sequel ("See the kingdom of the Clay Men!"; "15 startling chapters of further adventures on a new planet!"; "From Alex Raymond's Astonishing Newspaper Strip"; "Original Story and Screen Play by Wyndham Gittens, Norman S. Hall, Ray Trampe, Herbert Dalmas") starring Buster Crabbe (billed as "Larry 'Buster' Crabbe"; in the title role "as 'Flash Gordon'"), Jean Rogers ("as Dale Arden"), Charles Middleton ("as Emperor Ming"), Frank Shannon ("as Dr. Zarkov"), Beatrice Roberts ("as Queen Azura"), Donald Kerr, Richard Alexander ("as Prince Barin"), C. Montague Shaw (billed as "Montague Shaw as 'Clay King'"), and Kane Richmond NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this is a one-sheet from an extremely rare Universal feature version release of this classic 1938 serial! The poster is undated, but in the late 1940s Universal sold the rights to these Flash Gordon movies, so this is almost surely an early to mid 1940s poster. If anyone knows the exact release date for this poster, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Condition: fair to good. there are many fine scuff lines over Crabbe's face at top right, the two men two his right, and Charles Middleton at lower left. It looks like some kid stood next to the poster and used some semi-sharp object to scratch over the faces. The scuff marks are clearly noticeable, but they are not terribly distracting. I highly doubt they are easily restorable, and it might be that they need to be touched up with paint. Other than the scuff marks, the poster has many pinholes around the edges of the poster extending into the edges of the image and some pinholes scattered throughout the image. There are light stains and creases throughout the poster. While this is a very rare poster, please do not bid on it unless you can accept its defects or are willing to have them restored.
