A Hardcover Bound Volume of Original Vintage Comic Books (measures 8 3/4" x 11 1/2" [22 x 29 cm]; 416 pages) (Learn More)

Dick Tracy is a fictional police detective created by Chester Gould, initially debuting in the Detroit Mirror in 1931. The strip continues through today. Several movie adaptations of the crime stories have been made, most notably as serials in the 1940s and in the feature film starring Warren Beatty in the title role in 1990. AND Gang Busters was a comic book series which was published in the 1930s and was based on Philip H. Lord's famous radio program. AND Smilin' Jack was a comic book series which was published in the 1930s. AND Donald Duck is an animated animation cartoon character created in 1934 at Walt Disney Productions. He typically wears a sailor suit with a cap and a black or red bow tie and is well-known for his semi-intelligible speech and his mischievous and irritable personality. He had his own series of cartoons, and in the 1940s, he became even more popular than Mickey Mouse! AND two more issues of Dick Tracy, all bound together!

Important Added Info: Note that this is a bound volume of six comic books published in the 1930s by Dell Publishing. Apparently, someone at the company had bound volumes like these created, likely soon after the comics were published. This bound volume has three issues of Dick Tracy, plus one issue of Donald Duck, one of Smilin' Jack, and one of Gang Busters (see our images to see which issues). Our consignor obtained this many decades ago when Dell Publishing was doing some "house cleaning"! The comic books are extremely fragile. The covers are not quite as fragile, because they were printed on better paper.

Please note that we don't use a "comic guide" grading system, and OUR grading scale is completely different from standard comic book grading. Our "very good" is completely different from a comic book graded "very good". We provide images of the comic book covers, plus 2 interior 2-page spreads, which should allow you to get a sense of the condition of this comic book.

Note: We have 17 images of this bound volume, but due to a space limitation, only TEN of the 17 images are displayed above. However, there is a "supersize" link to the right of those images that lets you see the other 7.

Condition: fair to good. The bound volume surely originally contained comic books in excellent condition, but due to how they were stored, they are extremely fragile and brown around the edges. The covers are not quite as fragile, because they were printed on better paper. Look closely at our images before bidding on this bound volume of very rare comic books.
