An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Belgian Movie Poster (measures 13 1/2" x 22" [34 x 56 cm]) (Learn More) Escucha Mi Cancion (literally translates to "Listen to My Song"), the 1959 Antonio Del Amo Spanish musical melodrama starring Joselito, Luz Marquez, Jesus Tordesillas, Barta Barri, and Pilar Sanclemente. Note that Joselito was born in 1943 as Jose Jimenez Fernandez, and in 1956, he was "discovered" and starred in a movie called "The Little Nightingale", where he played a child with an angelic voice, and he became a huge hit, and was nicknamed after the movie. He was 13 at the time, but his manager lied and told everyone he was 9! Over the next few years, he appeared in more movies, and his manager kept trying to conceal his true age, which naturally grew more difficult to do, and also kept him from girls by locking him in his dressing room! Eventually, he became a heroin addict and retired from movies. Years later, he tried to make a comeback, but he did not resemble the child he was and did not have the voice he had, so it was not successful. He lives a reclusive life in Spain, but thankfully he is clean and sober! This is one more example of a child actor whose success did not help him in his later life at all. It appears this movie was never released in the U.S. If anyone knows more about this movie, please e-mail us and we will post it here. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we have never auctioned this Belgian poster! Also note that this poster has been trimmed and it now measures 13 1/2" x 22" [34 x 56 cm]. What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good. The poster originally had a blank top that was neatly trimmed off (this is commonly done with Belgian posters, similar to how the blank top is trimmed off of U.S. window cards). The poster was never folded. It had some pinholes, tears, and tiny paper loss around the edges. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was backed with no restoration, and the back of the linen was once glued to something (perhaps a backing board). It does not affect the poster itself, but the backing was removed from the back of the linen and is now "tacky" in that area and should not come in contact with another poster. Please bear this in mind before bidding. Learn More about condition grades
