An Original 1938 Vintage Theatrical Folded One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) The Rat, the 1937 (released in the U.S. in 1938) Jack Raymond English romantic crime melodrama (about a cat burglar called "The Rat", who is the most celebrated resident of France's slums, and a rich society woman meets him and becomes infatuated with him) starring Ruth Chatterton, Anton Walbrook (in the title role as Boucheron/The Rat), Rene Ray, Beatrix Lehmann, and Mary Clare. If this movie sounds remarkably similar to Pepe Le Moko (made the same year), it is because it is, but this was a remake of a 1926 silent movie of the same name! Note too that both movies were based on a play that was written by actor and actress Ivor Novello and Constance Collier (Novello starred in the silent version)! There are some creases, tattering and areas of paper loss mostly along the lower horizontal and vertical fold and around the edges. There are tape repairs on the back of two areas of separation at left and right in the lower horizontal fold and end of the lower vertical fold, some paper loss in the lower left corner, and some scuffs and smudges scattered throughout.
