An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Belgian Movie Poster (measures 24 1/4" x 33 1/2" [62 x 85 cm]) (Learn More)

The Awakening, the 1928 Victor Fleming talking World War I (WWI) romantic melodrama ("'The Awakening' of love"; "by Frances Marion"; about a Frenchwoman who has a liaison with a German soldier, and people shun her, so she finds religion, and becomes a field nurse during World War I, only to have the soldier resurfaces later in her life) starring Vilma Banky ("Her first starring picture"), Louis Wolheim, Walter Byron, George Davis, William Orlamond, and Carl von Haartman. Note that this is a "lost" film which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist.

If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that this is a rare "pre-War" Belgian poster. Prior to World War II, Belgian posters were much larger than the ones from after the war, and they are extremely rare (because during WWII, there was a massive paper shortage in Belgium, and they took virtually every poster and map, and printed new posters on the backs of them!). Also note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube.

Condition: good. The poster has darkened around the edges and there are many tears and areas of paper loss, but they are solely in the blank borders, more so in the left of the bottom blank border. There is tiny paper loss at the crossfolds and a 1 1/2" vertical tear in the left and right of the middle horizontal fold. The poster is fragile and absolutely needs to be professionally restored, but once it is backed (and it will not be a difficult job for a talented linenbacker), this great poster will look fantastic!
