He was a pioneer of rock and roll and his works and innovations inspired and influenced contemporary and later musicians. Holly was among the first inductees into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Rolling Stone magazine ranked him at 13 in "The 100 Greatest Artists of All Time". Some of his works include: That'll Be the Day, Peggy Sue, and Oh Boy! Tragically, Buddy Holly died in a plane crash in 1959 that also took the lives of Ritchie Valens and The Big Bopper.
