7 Original Vintage Theatrical 8" x 10" Movie Stills (Learn More)

Broadway Hostess, the 1935 Frank McDonald New York City romantic love triangle musical melodrama ("Paint the town red with the lady in red"; about a small town girl who wants to become a famous singer, and she does, but it is bittersweet, because she loses the man she loves to another woman) starring Wini Shaw, Phil Regan, Lyle Talbot, Genevieve Tobin, Lyle Talbot, Allen Jenkins, and Marie Wilson. Note that star Wini Shaw was one of those people who seems to have everything necessary to be a major star, but who never quite gets there. This movie was her only starring role, and some have said she had one of the finest singing voices in the movies in the mid-1930s, but after this movie, she only got supporting roles, and she retired in 1937 after just a few years in movies. She is probably best remembered for having introduced the song "The Lullaby of Broadway" in "Gold Diggers of 1935".
