French National Railroads (Societe Nationale Des Chemins De Fer Francais or S.N.C.F.), the French travel poster ("For traveling in France the railway is the right way"; "Visit France by train"; "Discover France by train") made by the S.N.C.F to encourage travel by the French National Railroad. Each poster features a wonderful image or art of one of the many locations that the railroad visits. The SNCF was founded in 1938 with the nationalization of France's main railway companies.

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster was never folded. It had some tears and small paper loss around the edges, with a 5" tear and paper loss in the far right of the bottom border. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but you can see signs of the above defects and the restoration of the above defects. Also, the poster was not glued well in the top edge, because it is slightly "lifting" from the linen in a few areas (any restorer could re-glue this without re-backing the poster).
