An Original Vintage Theatrical 8" x 10 1/4" [20 x 26 cm] Movie Still (Learn More) The Tower of Lies, the 1925 Victor Sjostrom (he was a major Swedish director of the 1910s and 1920s, and late in his life, he turned to acting, giving memorable performances in several Ingmar Bergman movies, most notably "Wild Strawberries") silent family relationship melodrama ("The world prize novel now a great film!"; "From the novel 'The Emperor of Portugallia' by Selma Lagerlof") starring Lon Chaney Sr., Norma Shearer, Ian Keith, Claire McDowell, and William Haines. Note that this is a "lost" film, which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that ANY movie paper from this movie is incredibly rare. We have only previously auctioned a six-sheet (20 years ago), a herald, an 11x14 still, and a different 8x10 still from this movie, and NO other movie paper of any kind, until we received this second 8x10 still! Note that this still has a stamp on the back that reads "JAMES CARD COLLECTION". James Card was a film preservationist who, starting in 1948, worked at the newly created George Eastman House in Rochester, New York, and he helped build their massive motion picture collection, preserving movies that had been forgotten at that time. In 1955, he discovered that Louise Brooks was living as a recluse in New York City, and he persuaded her to move to Rochester, where she wrote many letters and some books about her legendary career! Condition: very good to fine. There is a very tiny tear in the center of the right blank border and a tiny bit of paper loss in the bottom left blank corner.
