Brown (the great star of 1920s and 1930s slapstick comedy, who practically steals this movie with a wonderful comic performance and an unforgettable final line!) NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this poster has been personally autographed (signed) by Billy Wilder (it is an original 1959 half-sheet that was signed in 1984)! What happened is the hotel in San Diego where the movie was filmed held a 25th anniversary reunion for the film in 1984. The people at the hotel who ran the reunion wanted to display original posters, and our consignor lent them a number of his posters to use at the event, including at a private reception for the director and all the stars, except, of course, for Marilyn Monroe. Our consignor attended the event and obtained autographs from the stars on different items, and he had Mr. Wilder autograph this poster. He does not have a certificate of authenticity, but we are 100% certain the signature is genuine, because he obtained it in person. Note that this poster was gel backed, and while it could be rolled and sent in a tube, we would worry that doing so would either damage the poster or bring back the folds. Therefore, we would much prefer to send it in a large flat package. However, if the new buyer insists, we will send it in a tube, but only if they accept responsibility for doing so. Condition: very good. Prior to gel backing, the poster was folded by hand down the center and by hand across the center, resulting in a slightly diagonal right half of the horizontal fold. It had pinholes, creases, and some stains around the edges in the blank borders. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to restoration. A talented restorer gel backed the poster (meaning they backed the poster onto a gel material) and they then performed excellent restoration to the above defects, and then removed the gel backing, so that the poster still exactly looks and feels like an original poster (and it is!), with no backing at all. You can see slight signs of the restoration, but the poster displays really well! Learn More about condition grades
