An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) Alfred Hitchcock's Dial M For Murder, the classic 1954 Alfred Hitchcock 3-D (3D; 3-Dimension) romantic love triangle crime murder mystery detective suspense thriller ("...is that you, darling?"; "Written by Frederick Knott who wrote the International Stage Success"; "If a woman answers... hang on for dear life!"; "Is this the man she was waiting for... or the man who was waiting for her?"; "Perfect 3 Dimension in the Hitchcock manner!") starring Ray Milland, Grace Kelly, Robert Cummings (Bob Cummings), John Williams, and Anthony Dawson. Note that, although this movie was filmed in 3-D, none of the original posters mention it at all (there is an explanation in the pressbook that because they know many theaters will not show it in 3-D, "the ads have been designed so that the 3D copy may be eliminated" [and obviously, this is why they did not put 3-D on the posters]). NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: fair. The poster had small paper loss at the crossfolds and tiny tears and fine surface paper loss on parts of several folds, with some stains in the "M" of the title and in the background to the right of it, and some stains down the left side of the image. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. It was framed and displayed, and that caused the entire poster to fade considerably (the solid background areas were a vivid dark red, and they became a light orange. It also caused the borders to darken unevenly. Most noticeable of all, the restoration paint of the above defects did not fade, so it is very noticeable where the restoration was (along the folds and the other areas described above), because they are noticeably red and the background is light orange. One could either have a restorer repaint the light orange areas to be their original red, or a restorer could paint the old restoration red areas to match the new light orange. Either way, this is a very significant defect, so bear it in mind before placing a bid on this poster. Learn More about condition grades
