An Original Vintage Folded World War II Poster (measures 28 1/2" x 40" [72 x 102 cm]) (Learn More) This is the Enemy, the 1943 U.S. World War II (WWII) poster featuring incredible artwork of a soldier's hand (with a Nazi swastika on his sleeve) stabbing a Holy Bible with a bayonet! This poster was part of "The Nature of the Enemy" category of war poster, and almost everyone considers this one of the greatest of World War II propaganda posters. This poster certainly seems not only "heavy handed" to today's world, but outright "over the top", but of course America during World War II knew that the Nazis could potentially conquer the entire world and they wanted to make sure every citizen did all they could to keep that from happening, and posters like this certainly drove that message home! Artist: Barbara Marks Important Added Info: Note that most collectors feel that this is one of the absolute most striking (and best) World War II war posters that were created. The last example of this poster we auctioned sold for $985! Note also that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: very good. The poster was folded in half an extra time, which is typical of these posters, because they were most often sent in envelopes to Army bases and other places that displayed them. The poster has tiny separation at the top center crossfold, some tiny surface paper loss on small parts of the folds and an extremely tiny pair of staple holes in each corner, but is otherwise in quite nice condition.
