An Original Vintage Theatrical Mexican Movie Poster (measures 27 1/2" x 37 1/2" [70 x 95 cm]) (Learn More) L'Idiot (released in the U.S. as "The Idiot"), the 1946 Georges Lampin French Russia royalty relationship melodrama (based on the novel by Fyodor Dostoyevsky; about a Russian prince who returns from a mental institution and who tries to greatly improve the world around him, but with tragic results) starring Edwige Feuillere, Lucien Coedel, Jean Debucourt, Sylvie, Gerard Philippe, and Nathalie Nattier NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Lili Poissonnie Important Added Info: Note that this poster has French identification at the bottom, but we believe it to be a Mexican poster, based on its size and paper stock. It seems likely that the French printers lent the printing plates to the Mexican printers, who did not bother to change the writing at bottom. Also note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: fair to good. There is some discoloration and staining throughout the poster from exposure to moisture. Note that this Mexican poster is somewhat fragile! Mexican posters were printed on a paper stock that often ages very poorly, and also darkens. This poster has darkened somewhat and is more fragile along the foldlines (but of course, any talented restorer could linenback the poster, after which it would look great).
