An Original Vintage Theatrical Autographed 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm] Movie Still (Learn More) Herbert Marshall was an English actor from the 1920s to the 1960s. He was born in 1890, and lost a leg in World War I, but adapted to his disability really well. He initially studied to be an accountant, but he fell in love with stage acting, and except for appearing in one silent movie in England in 1927, he spent 20 years performing on the stage there before he considered the movies. He was just shy of 40 when he made his first American movie, The Letter in 1929, and American audiences loved his voice and his acting! He was a wonderful leading man in the 1930s, and seamlessly transitioned to supporting roles in the 1940s and later, and he had a memorable cameo role in The Fly in 1958. Some of his other movies include: Trouble in Paradise, The Little Foxes, and Foreign Correspondent. He passed away in 1966 at the age of 75. Important Added Info: Note that this still has been personally autographed (signed) by Herbert Marshall (it has information written on the back about when and where the still was signed, which was when the actor was getting off of a train at Grand Central Station in New York City!; see our image)! Our consignor is a very longtime collector of Herbert Marshall movie paper who purchased this item years ago, and it was signed, but she doesn't know how the signature was obtained, and she (and we) believe it is likely that the autograph is authentic. As is true of all the signed items we are currently auctioning, we give every buyer 30 days in which to review what they purchased (although we prefer they do any "authenticating" while the auction is "live" and before they place a bid) and they can return any item as long as it is within 30 days of the end of the auction. On non-signed items, we give a "lifetime guarantee" on everything we auction, but on signed items, we give the above modified guarantee of 30 days after the auction closes. Condition: very good. The still has changed to a sepia color but is otherwise in pretty nice condition! Learn More about condition grades
