An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Twenty-Four-Sheet Movie Poster (24sh; measures approximately 9' x 20') (Learn More) Love on the Run, the 1936 W.S. Van Dyke runaway bride romantic love triangle newspaper reporter spy comedy ("'Hey, Mister, you took a long time getting around to kissing me!' [but once he began - um-m-m-m!]"; "It's simply marvelous!"; about a runaway bride who meets up with an undercover reporter, similar to "It Happened One Night", but in this movie, they get caught up with spies and are chased across Europe) starring Joan Crawford, Clark Gable, Franchot Tone, Reginald Owen, Robert Montgomery, Charles Butterworth, Rosalind Russell, Billie Burke, Mona Barrie, Christian Rub, and Ivan Lebedeff. Note that this was one of eight movies that Crawford and Gable made together. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: It is remarkable that any 1936 24-sheet has survived at all, because they were glued to billboards or the sides of buildings, and were never taken down, and any that were unused in the 1930s were almost surely donated during the paper drives in World War II, which likely explains why virtually NO 24-sheets from before 1940 have been discovered (and needless to say, this is the only example of this poster we have ever seen). This poster was discovered in an archive in Denmark, where it had been stored for many years (it has three tiny stamps in white background areas that read "Statens Filmscensur", a stamp that was only used in Denmark much later, but that just means that they reused this poster during a reissue of it, because this definitely is an original 1936 24-sheet! Also note that this twenty-four sheet was printed in 15 sections designed to overlap. Condition: very good. All of the sections have some tiny paper loss at some crossfolds (including the crossfold that falls in the tip of Crawford's nose) and some small tears and tiny paper loss in small parts of the folds and small parts of the borders. As described above, there are three tiny Danish stamps in white background areas. But otherwise, the poster is in nice condition, and it could certainly be displayed as it is, or it could be linenbacked or mounted in any of several ways, and it would look incredible on the wall of any building!
