From 1939 through 1953, he played for the Detroit Tigers, Philadelphia Athletics, Cincinnati Reds and Cleveland Indians. McCosky batted left-handed and threw right-handed. He played in 1170 games, 535 in center field and 477 in left field. He had a career batting average of .312. He passed away in 1996 at the age of 79. Important Added Info: Note that this business card has been personally autographed (signed) by Barney McCosky (it is his business card from after he retired from baseball and went to work for a Chevrolet dealer in Michigan, and he wisely made business cards with a picture of a baseball player on the front)! Note that this comes from a wonderful collection that was assembled by a collector decades ago, mostly from RR Auctions, which has auctioned signed items since 1976. The person who purchased these items passed away several years ago, and while he did not save most of the certificates of authenticity he received when he bought these signed items, almost all were purchased between the late 1970s and the early 1990s, and we think it is extremely likely that the autograph on this item is genuine. In our last two auctions, we auctioned around 100 items from this same consignor, and we thought that was the very last of this wonderful collection, but our consignor discovered a few more items that had been missed, so we are auctioning those last ones in this set of auctions. As is true of all the signed items we are currently auctioning, we give every buyer 30 days in which to review what they purchased and they can return any item as long as it is within 30 days of the end of the auction. On non-signed items, we give a "lifetime guarantee" on everything we auction, but on signed items, we give the above modified guarantee of 30 days after the auction closes.
