An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Mexican Movie Poster (measures 26 3/4" x 36 1/4" [68 x 92 cm]) (Learn More) Gitana Tenias Que Ser (literally translates to "You Had to Be a Gypsy"), the 1953 Rafael Baledon Mexican/Spanish romantic comedy (about a Spanish actress traveling to Mexico to film a movie and falling in love with her Mexican co-star) starring Pedro Infante, Carmen Sevilla, Estrellita Castro, Angel Garasa, Pedro D'Aguillon, Jose Jasso, Florencio Castello, Carlos Muzquiz, Chula Prieto, and Armando Calvo. It appears this movie was never released in the U.S. If anyone knows more about this movie, please e-mail us and we will post it here. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned one example of this poster, which is a "country of origin" poster for this partially Mexican movie! Also note that this poster has been trimmed and it now measures 26 3/4" x 36 1/4" [68 x 92 cm]. This is a rare opportunity to add one or more of these posters to your collection! What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good. The poster had tiny bits of paper loss on parts of the folds and had darkened somewhat unevenly. Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to linenbacking. Note that either the restorer who mounted the poster did not leave any excess linen around the edges of the poster, or possibly the owner of the poster chose to carefully trim off the excess, so that the poster would fit in a frame. It appears that the blank borders of the poster were slightly trimmed, either before or after the poster was backed, so bear this in mind before bidding. Learn More about condition grades
