Which Will Make The Better Citizen?, the circa 1918 U.S. World War I (WWI) poster ("Which would you give a job to?") encouraging members of the military to take car of their personal appearance and demeanor, and featuring art of a soldier in a neat uniform at attention and a slumped soldier in a rumpled uniform. Note that soldiers returning from war often had a difficult time returning to their previous jobs or finding new jobs.

If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.

Condition: good. The poster has discoloration scattered in some areas from exposure to moisture (more so along the lower edge) and many tears of varying lengths around the edges (many are backed by conservation tape). Please see our super-sized image to get a good sense of the condition of this item prior to placing a bid and please do not bid unless you can accept the defects described above, or you are willing to pay to have them properly restored.
