An Original Vintage Herald (measures 5" x 7 1/2" [13 x 19 cm]; 4 pages) (Learn More) a local theater herald advertising the complete program for the week of September 27th in South River, New Jersey, comprised of the following movies: Son of India, the 1931 Jacques Feyder romantic adventure thriller ("How could she resist such a lover?"; "Adapted from the book 'Mr. Isaacs' by F. Marion Crawford."; about the son of a rich man in India who is orphaned, and he becomes poor, but he vows to become rich and powerful, which he does, but he is less fortunate in his love affair with a beautiful English lady) starring Ramon Novarro, Conrad Nagel, Marjorie Rambeau, Madge Evans, and C. Aubrey Smith AND Goldie, the 1931 Benjamin Stoloff romantic love triangle dating comedy starring Spencer Tracy (in his 7th movie!), Warren Hymer, Jean Harlow (who made this movie after "Public Enemy", but before "Platinum Blonde", all in 1931; in the title role as "Goldie"), Jesse De Vorska, and Lina Basquette AND Two-Gun Man, the 1931 Phil Rosen ranching cowboy western (based on the story by Jack Natteford) starring Ken Maynard, Tarzan, Lucille Powers, Charles King, Nita Martan, Murdock MacQuarrie, and Lafe McKee AND Annabelle's Affairs, the 1931 Alfred L. Werker romantic melodrama (based on the play by Clare Kummer) starring Victor McLaglen, Jeanette MacDonald (in the title role as Annabelle Leigh), Joyce Compton, Sally Blane, Roland Young, Sam Hardy, and William Collier Sr. Note that this is a "lost" film which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist AND A Holy Terror, the 1931 Irving Cummings easterner-goes-west romantic love triangle adventure (about the son of a millionaire whose dad is murdered, and he flies out West to see what happened, and he crashes his plane into a girl's bedroom, and falls for her, which makes her boyfriend very jealous!) starring George O'Brien, Sally Eilers, Rita La Roy, James Kirkwood, and Humphrey Bogart. Note that young Humphrey Bogart was fifth billed in this movie, one of a small number of movies he made between 1931 and 1934, before giving up on Hollywood, and returning to the New York stage. Movie paper items from this film are incredibly rare, so we don't know if Bogart was pictured on any of the posters or lobby cards! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography.
