Appears in John Wayne Movie Posters at Auction CATALOG SOLD OUT The image at right appears in the auction catalog we published as shown above and was sold long ago and we do NOT have it available for purchase. An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 27" x 41") (Learn More) New Frontier, the 1939 George Sherman cowboy western (based on characters created by William Colt MacDonald) starring The Three Mesquiteers (John Wayne, Ray 'Crash' Corrigan & Raymond Hatton), Jennifer Jones (billed as "Phylis Isley"; in her first movie role!), Bob Burns, Bud Osborne, LeRoy Mason, Sammy McKim, and Bill Wolfe. Note that John Wayne appeared in a movie called "The New Frontier" in 1935, but that was not a Three Mesquiteers movie, and it has no connection to this movie, other than the title. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: very good. This poster was linenbacked, and the restorer did a good job, but you can see signs of the restoration from inches away (since most people look at posters framed on a wall from at least a few feet away, we don't feel this is a defect, but we feel it should be noted). See below for this poster's pre-restoration condition (we are the only major auction company we know of that shares this information with our bidders, but we wish everyone did!). good. The poster had tears and creases along many foldlines (more so down the vertical foldline, where there were many small horizontal tears), and some paper loss at the crossfolds. There was paper loss in the top of the vertical foldline and the edges of the borders were somewhat tattered. The person who restored the poster did a pretty nice job restoring the above defects, but you can still somewhat see them (mostly the restoration down the vertical foldline). From any distance away, the restoration is not very noticeable. Learn More about condition grades
