An Unfolded Original Vintage Theatrical Style B Half-Sheet Movie Poster (1/2sh; measures 22" x 28" [56 x 71 cm]) (Learn More) Cecil B. DeMille's Four Frightened People, the 1934 Cecil B. DeMille Malaya tropical island romantic love triangle adventure thriller (about a cruise ship where Bubonic plague breaks out and four people leave the ship in a tiny boat and make it to a desert island, where they have many adventures and where the two men fight over the beautiful young schoolteacher who is with them) starring Claudette Colbert, Herbert Marshall, Mary Boland, William Gargan, and Leo Carrillo NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this style B half-sheet, and we have only once before auctioned the style A half-sheet! Note that because the poster has condition issues, we don't want to roll the poster prior to mailing, because we believe that rolling the poster would likely lessen its condition even more. If you specifically request it, we will roll this poster, but you will not be able to return it. Otherwise, it will be sent in a large flat package that measures approximately 24" x 30" (but it can be combined with other posters the same size, including ones that could be rolled). Please bear the expense of a large package in mind before bidding on this poster. Condition: good to very good. The poster was never folded. It has a lot of staining on the back of the middle left, extending in by 8", and also in the back of the top left of the poster, extending in to the left of Colbert's hair. That staining has caused the poster to become rippled in the middle left, slightly extending into the leaves that make the left of Colbert's dress, but the ripples are not very noticeable from the front at all. There is a small faint stain in Colbert's cheek. There are creases in the bottom borders that were repaired with tape from the back. The poster can be displayed and enjoyed as it is, but the stains described above are the sort that respond really well to professional restoration. It is likely that much or all of the staining can be removed through chemical means, after which the poster will look fantastic, but as mentioned above, the poster already displays pretty well without restoration.
