eMoviePoster.comAuction History Result 6c343 WALPURGIS NIGHT Swedish 1937 photo montage of Ingrid Bergman & top stars, ultra rare! Date Sold 5/3/2018Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Swedish Movie Poster (measures 27 3/4" x 39 1/2" [70 x 100 cm]) (Learn More) Valborgsmassoafton (released in the U.S. in 1941 as "Walpurgis Night"), the 1935 Gustaf Edgren Swedish abortion blackmail romantic love triangle murder melodrama (about a married man who wants badly to have a family, but his wife not only refuses, but when she becomes pregnant, she plans to have an abortion without telling him; she schedules it for Walpurgis Night, when he was intending to celebrate with her, and instead, he takes out his young secretary, and tells her how unhappy he is and they fall in love, and meanwhile, the wife ends up killing the abortionist, but it looks like the husband did it, and he has to leave the country) starring Victor Sjostrom, Lars Hanson, Ingrid Bergman, Karin Kavli (billed as "Karin Carlsson"), Georg Blickingberg, Georg Rydeberg, Erik 'Bullen' Berglund (billed as "Eric Berglund"), and Sture Lagerwall. Note that the Walpurgis Night of the title refers to the night before May 1st (May Day), when celebratory dinners were given in many European countries, and the main action of this movie takes place on that date! Note that the young secretary in the movie is played by Ingrid Bergman, in her fourth movie role ever! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this poster, which is a "country of origin" poster for this Swedish movie (and not only that, we have never auctioned any other poster, original or re-release, except for a German program and herald)! Now we have been consigned both styles of Swedish one-sheets for the first release of this movie in Sweden (and there is an oddity to them, which is that Bergman is clearly third billed on one, but is sort of fourth billed on the other, but we think that is solely because they laid out the photos so that the stars would be at the center of the poster). Also note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: good to very good. The poster has minor wear on the folds. It has a 2" tear in the left of the bottom border that has tape on the back, and it has a 2" tear in the left of the top border that is not taped, and some small tears in the middle of the top border that do have tape on the back.
