An Original Vintage Linenbacked Stage Play Poster (measures 41" x 82" [104 x 208 cm]) (Learn More) Miss Lottie Elliott, the 1890s stage poster promoting a show by Lottie Elliott. Lottie was a dancer who incorporated a jump (skip) rope in her act. We know little about her but we did find an 1891 Boston newspaper article about tights being banned on stage, and she is quoted as saying "I can't think of anything prettier than a well-shaped woman in tights. The trouble is some people who have no business with tights insist on wearing them. I mean fat, flabby, bow-legged and otherwise misshapen women, They look positively obscene and vulgar, and it is no wonder people object". If anyone knows more about her, please e-mail us and we will post it here. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this stage play poster! What IS linenbacking?
