An Original Vintage Theatrical Oversized Movie Still (measures 20" x 24" [51 x 61 cm]) (Learn More) Buck Jones was the great cowboy western star who also was one of William Fox's top cowboy actors in the 1920s, before he switched to Columbia, where he became their leading star in the 1930s. He made scores of westerns, and early in his career he also appeared in many non-cowboy roles. When he first started making movies, he was billed as "Charles Gebhart" (which was his real name). In the middle 1910s, his billing changed to "Buck Gebhart", and it was not until early 1920 that he became "Buck Jones" (sometimes billed as either "Charles Jones" or "Charles 'Buck' Jones"). Some of his movies include: Lazybones, Empty Saddles, and The Phantom Ride. He was still making movies when he died tragically in the Coconut Grove nightclub fire in 1942. He was 50 years old. Important Added Info: Note that this still measures 20" x 24" [51 x 61 cm]. Note that this item needs to be shipped in an oversized flat package. Some of these items can ONLY be sent in flat packages, and could not possibly be rolled into a tube. On some of them (for example if it is a size that might ordinarily be rolled in a tube, like a half-sheet), the reason it is in this auction is specifically because we feel it either CAN'T be rolled or because we feel it would be a mistake to roll it, because it might well damage the item. In the case of the few items that could be rolled, we will roll the item in a tube if the new owner insists, but only if they accept that they can't return the item if it is damaged from being rolled. So please bear in mind that this item must be sent in a LARGE flat package (the size of the package will depend on the size of the item), and bear this added expense in mind before placing a bid on it. Condition: fair. The still has creases and some tears scattered in various areas and some are touched up with paint or marker. It is glued to a very heavy board that has a painting on the back. Please see our super-sized image to get a good sense of the condition of this item prior to placing a bid. Learn More about condition grades
