An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) Some Like It Hot, the classic 1959 Billy Wilder (nominated for the Best Director Academy Award for this film) romantic musical cross-dressing drag crime comedy ("Hot!!!"; about two out of work musicians who happen to witness the St. Valentine's Day Massacre in Chicago, and they need to leave town in a hurry, but the only jobs they can get is with an all-girl band, and they dress in drag, and one of the band members is Marilyn Monroe!) starring Marilyn Monroe ("and her bosom companions"), Tony Curtis, Jack Lemmon (nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film), George Raft, Pat O'Brien, and Joe E. Brown (the great star of 1920s and 1930s slapstick comedy, who practically steals this movie with a wonderful comic performance and an unforgettable final line!) NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: fair to good. The bottom 2 1/2" of the poster was trimmed off, affecting the small writing in the bottom white border and a small portrait of the bottom of the red border. The other borders were also trimmed off, slightly affecting the red in each border. There were tears and small areas of paper loss scattered on the top and bottom horizontal folds and in the top and bottom quarters of the vertical fold, with separation in the folds in the image area. There were some tears and small paper loss in the white background area surrounding the figures. Overall, the poster was in fair condition prior to linenbacking. Given its many defects, the restorer did the best he could, but the restoration is definitely noticeable in several areas.
