An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More)

A Man's Land, the 1932 Phil Rosen romantic cowboy western (about the foreman of a western ranch, and the absentee owner dies, and he leaves half the ranch to the foreman, and half to his daughter, and she comes out west to try to convince the foreman to turn it into a dude ranch, which he hates, and meanwhile, someone is rustling their cattle) starring Hoot Gibson, Marian Shilling, Al Bridge, Skeeter Bill Robbins, Charles King, Ethel Wales, Hal Burney, Robert Ellis, Bill Nye, and "Hoot Gibson's Cowboys". Note that "Hoot Gibson's Cowboys" were billed in this movie and in "The Gay Buckaroo" the same year, but we could not find any explanation for who "Hoot Gibson's Cowboys" were. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here.
NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography.
If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned one example of this poster, and that was 14 years ago, when it sold for $485!

What IS linenbacking? Learn More

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster had an extra bottom horizontal fold 1/2" below the regular one, at a slight diagonal. It had a few creases and tiny tears on small parts of the folds. It had some pinholes and paper loss around the edges. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. Someone backed the poster, but did not restore the blank border defects, likely assuming they will not show when the poster is framed (and any talented restorer could perform additional restoration to those areas without re-backing the poster, or certainly, it could be displayed as is).
