An Original Vintage Theatrical Color 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm] Movie Still (Learn More)

The Shop Around the Corner, the classic 1940 Ernst Lubitsch Budapest Hungary mistaken identity romantic comedy ("Great News! The new film hit by the producer of 'Ninotchka' is here!"; with a wonderful screen play by Samson Raphaelson; about two store employees who search for love through the mail, and they think they found their soulmates, not knowing that it is actually their fellow employee that they can't get along with!) starring James Stewart (Jimmy Stewart; as Mr. Kralik), Margaret Sullavan (as Klara Novak), Frank Morgan (as Mr. Matuschek), Joseph Schildkraut (as Mr. Vadas), Sara Haden, Felix Bressart (as Pirovitch), William Tracy (as Pepi Katona), Inez Courtney, Sarah Edwards, Edwin Maxwell, Charles Halton, and Charles Smith (as Rudy). Note that there was a musical remake of this movie in 1949 with Judy Garland and Van Johnson (as "In the Good Old Summertime"), and another in 1998 with Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan (as "You've Got Mail"), but neither of those captured the magic of the original. If you want to see a wonderful movie, see this one!

Important Added Info: Note that this still is from a special set of "color glos" stills, which means it was printed on a photo type of paper and have a glossier front, with more vivid colors. This is something the studios experimented with in the late 1930s and early 1940s, for both 8x10 stills and 11x14 stills.
