An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Style B Half-Sheet Movie Poster (1/2sh; measures 22" x 28" [56 x 71 cm]) (Learn More) Invasion of the Body Snatchers (released in Mexico as "The Body Snatchers"), the classic 1956 Don Siegel science fiction (sci-fi) horror alien invasion romantic thriller ("Walter Wanger creates the ultimate in science-fiction!"; "They come from another world!"; "Incredible! Invisible! Insatiable!"; "Something is happening! Send your men of science quick! The panic stricken cry went over the phone to Washington D. C. until the lines went dead!......."; "Colliers's Magazine called it 'The nightmare that threatens the world!'"; "Based on the Collier's Magazine Serial by Jack Finney"; about aliens invading Earth by replacing people with alien counterparts that grow as pods, and then take over the person's identity when the person falls asleep; one by one, a town is taken over, and the few remaining unaffected people try to stop them and get the word out, but they are stopped at every turn; most people see this as a thinly veiled parable of the activities of the House Un-American Activities Committee, which found "Communists" behind every door in Hollywood!; others protest that it greatly borrowed the plot of Robert A. Heinlein's "The Puppet Masters", which had been written five years before; ironically, when The Puppet Masters finally came to the screen in 1994, it was criticized for being a rip-off of this movie!) starring Kevin McCarthy, Dana Wynter ("Sensational star discovery of 'The View From Pompey's Head' ... Dana Wynter in the year's most startling role!"), Larry Gates, King Donovan, Carolyn Jones, Jean Willes, and Ralph Dumke NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that the ad campaign for this classic movie was pretty uninspired, and just about every first release U.S. poster had an image of McCarthy and Wynter running, with a giant hand print in the background. It was only for this style B half-sheet poster that a different image was created, which shows McCarthy, Wynter, and others caught in spotlights from the skies! What IS linenbacking? Learn More Condition: fair to good. The poster had noticeably faded throughout, and the reds of the poster are now a pink or orange. The poster had been folded once in each direction, and there were creases, scuffs, and surface paper loss on both foldlines, and some pinholes, smudges, scuffs, and tears around the edges of the poster, with a few smudges and scuffs scattered in the image. Overall, the poster was in fair to good condition prior to linenbacking. The person who backed the poster pretty much simply backed is "as is", doing very little to address any of the above defects. But the poster still displays pretty well in spite of its defects! Since a better condition example of this poster would likely sell for $10,000 or more, this poster is certainly an attractive alternative to that poster, at the right price. But please bear in mind the poster's defects as described above (and from looking at our super-sized image) before you place a bid on this poster! Learn More about condition grades
