An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Movie Window Card (WC; measures 14" x 22" [36 x 56 cm]) (Learn More) Where East is East, the 1929 Tod Browning China Asian romantic love triangle melodrama (a wild tale of an Asian animal trapper in China who has a beautiful daughter, and she falls in love with a handsome young man, but he becomes attracted to the father's ex-wife!) starring Lon Chaney Sr., Lupe Velez, Estelle Taylor, Lloyd Hughes, and Louis Stern NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that ANY movie paper from this movie is incredibly rare. We have only previously auctioned a lobby card, a Swedish poster, and some stills from this movie (and NO other movie paper) until we received this window card! Note that the card measures very slightly under 14" x 22" (an extremely tiny amount in each direction!) and has no left, right, or bottom blank borders, but it has NOT been trimmed (this was done at a time when MGM was experimenting with having as few borders as possible). Condition: fair to good. The card had paper loss in the bottom right corner, with a long thin strip separated from the right half of the bottom border and a piece in the bottom left corner that was separated. Someone taped back the large piece and the small piece that were completely separated, but they left alone a 4" horizontal tear in the bottom center of the image that has a 2 1/2" tear running from the center of it down to the bottom border. They also left alone a 2" tear in the center of the top border. The card had much light staining in the right half. It was likely the same person who put the tape on the back who also lightly bleached the card, but they did no other restoration, and you can still see signs of the light staining in the right half, and stains in the top blank area. This extremely rare card is in urgent need of additional professional restoration, and since it is mostly "all there", and there is little damage within the image, the card will look great after proper restoration, but bear all of the above in mind before bidding on it.
