An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Glass Slide (measures approximately 3" x 4") (Learn More) Sullivan's Travels, the classic 1941 Preston Sturges movie acting comedy ("Veronica Lake's on the take"; "Written and Directed by Preston Sturges"; about a Hollywood director who pretends to be a hobo in order to make a more realistic movie about the troubles of the poor, but he comes to realize that they don't want to see such a movie, and that they just want to get their mind off their troubles) starring Joel McCrea (in the title role as John Lloyd Sullivan), Veronica Lake, Robert Warwick, William Demarest, Margaret Hayes, Porter Hall, Franklin Pangborn, Eric Blore, and Esther Howard. Note that Veronica Lake was far along in her pregnancy (six months) when she signed to do this movie, but she was able to hide that fact from Preston Sturges. But as filming continued, it became painfully obvious, and Sturges became furious, but all he could do was "shoot around it", and part of the way this was done was by having her dress in baggy "men's" tramp clothes, which hid her figure, but which reduced her sex appeal considerably! Important Added Info: The slide does not have a cardboard holder, but rather there is black tape around all four edges (front and back), typical of older glass slides. When we auction slides that have a cardboard holder, we provide a separate image of how the cardboard holder looks, but when we auction slides with the black tape (like this one) we only provide the scan of the glass slide image, because that really is about all there is to see. Condition: good. There is a 1" hairline crack in the right of the top border extending into the background above McCrea's shoulder. The slide is in no danger of coming apart and it is otherwise in pretty nice condition!
