An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) The Dude Wrangler, the 1930 Richard Thorpe romantic love triangle cowboy western melodrama ("The story of a 'Pansy' Cowboy!"; about an "effeminate" young man who lives with his aunt and designs embroidery patterns; he loves a beautiful woman who breeds polo ponies, but she says he needs to become "more of a man"; he buys a dude ranch in Wyoming where she goes, and dresses in cowboy attire, and her would-be rough boyfriend resents his presence, and they have many scuffles; finally, the young man fights the tough guy and that wins him the love of the girl) starring Lina Basquette, Tom Keene (billed as "George Duryea"), Francis X. Bushman, Clyde Cook, and Ethel Wales. Note that this is a "lost" film which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist. Also note that Tom Keene was a New York college graduate (from Columbia and Carnegie Tech), and he started in movies under his real name of George Duryea. At the end of the 1920s, he signed with RKO and appeared in a series of westerns for them, but he was not comfortable in them and he kept trying to do other things, but could never really break out of the "B-western" cowboy genre. Finally, note that Francis X. Bushman, who had played Messala in "Ben-Hur" in 1925, played the brutish boyfriend in this movie! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has. Condition: fair to good. There is a diagonal scuff in the center of the card that runs through Keene's hair.
