An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Jumbo Lobby Card (LC; measures 14" x 17" [36 x 43 cm]) (Learn More) Beau Geste, the 1926 Herbert Brenon silent French Foreign Legion military family relationship action adventure war thriller ("From the novel by Percival C. Wren"; about an Englishman who leaves England in disgrace and joins the French Foreign Legion, where his two brothers are serving, and they must deal with a sadistic sergeant and murderous Arabs) starring Ronald Colman (in the title role as Michael 'Beau' Geste; "By arrangement with Samuel Goldwyn"), Alice Joyce, Neil Hamilton (as Digby Geste), Noah Beery Sr. (as Sgt. Lejaune), Mary Brian, William Powell (as the Arab, Boldini!), Norman Trevor, Ralph Forbes (as John Geste), and Victor McLaglen. Note that this movie was remade in 1939, with Gary Cooper, Ray Milland, and Robert Preston as the three brothers, and Brian Donlevy as the sadistic sergeant. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Condition: good to very good. The card had a 3" tear in the middle of the right lower right border, with paper loss at the end of that tear in the border. It had some small tears and paper loss around the edges. Overall, the card was in good condition prior to restoration. A talented restorer gel backed the card (meaning they backed the card onto a gel material) and they then performed restoration to the above defects, and then removed the gel backing, so that the card still exactly looks and feels like an original card (and it is!), with no backing at all. You can see slight signs of the restoration, but the card displays really well. At some point after it was backed, the card acquired a 1" L-shaped tear in the lower left border (one could easily repair that tear with conservation tape from the reverse).
