A Vintage Paperback Book (measures 4 1/4" x 6 1/2" [11 x 17 cm]; 192 pages) (Learn More) The Wanton One, the 1960 James Rubel sexploitation novel ("She made it her business to get what she wanted... and she never stopped wanting"; "Three gorgeous women were no match for Dan Kerry - not when one of them used her sensuous wiles to her own evil ends... the trouble was, which woman?") Important Added Info: Note that the book cover has an artist's signature on it, but we cannot read it. If anyone knows the name of this artist, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Note that this is one of a collection of 31 sexploitation paperback books from the 1950s and 1960s from a new collection we were recently consigned (see below for more), and are auctioning in 31 separate auctions. These are from the repressed 1950s and 1960s, from the days when "respectable" people had few outlets for non-traditional sexual desires, and these "sleaze" paperbacks covered those subjects in depth! They always had lurid covers, and they were often sold "under the counter" (where you had to ask for them). The sexual revolution of the late 1960s made these books pretty irrelevant, but they are a fascinating reminder of repressed sexual attitudes of the 1960s! In 2018, we were consigned a collection of around 300 of these books, and we auctioned them from then until 2021. Now we have been consigned a new collection that we will be auctioning every four weeks, with around 30 in each auction. There is only one of each title, so if you don't purchase a specific book, don't expect to see it again, because there is not another example of it in this collection! Condition: very good.
