An Original 1957 Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) The Spanish Gardener, the 1956 (released in the U.S. in 1957) Philip Leacock English family relationship melodrama ("It happened in Spain where only the blazing sun matches the fire of their emotions..."; "From the novel by A.J. Cronin") starring Dirk Bogarde (in the title role as Jose), John Whiteley, Michael Hordern, Cyril Cusack, Maureen Swanson, Josephine Griffin, Lyndon Brook, Bernard Lee, and Geoffrey Keen. Note that A.J. Cronin was a doctor who had health problems in 1930. He wrote a book called "Hatter's Castle" in 1931, and it was so successful that he stopped practicing medicine and wrote a series of books, all centering around doctors, including "The Citadel" and "Keys of the Kingdom", all of which were made into movies! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster had small paper loss at the top and bottom crossfolds, with some tiny paper loss scattered in the right half of the bottom horizontal fold and a lesser amount of wear on the other folds and in the borders. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer backed the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did not do restoration to the defects described above. Learn More about condition grades
