Artist: Roger Kastel Important Added Info: Note that it is little known by collectors, but for unknown reasons, Universal did NOT make three-sheets or six-sheets for this most classic movie, even though all other major movies of this time had them. Perhaps this was because they made special "7-sheets" (larger than a six-sheet), and maybe they did not want to spend any more money on larger posters! The only posters they made larger than a one-sheet were the 40x60 (which we have auctioned once before), the subway poster (which measures 45" x 60", and which we have auctioned six times), and this standee, which we have NEVER auctioned before now! It is surely one of the most rare Jaws items there is, because it seems extremely likely that most theaters would have discarded the standees after use. This standee comes to us from a theater manager who managed a theater that showed this movie. After it was done playing, he took the backing off the standee and folded it back up and saved it all these years. He does not have the original backing for it, but he does have the backing from a different standee from around the same time, and he gave it to us to send to the buyer (if he wants it) so that they could potentially re-set up the standee if they wanted to display it that way! Condition: good. The standee has water staining in the top left corner that affects the white background to the left of the title. There is also some staining scattered across the top of the standee, but it is mostly only visible from the front in the area directly above the stain in the white area. There are many smudges and scuffs scattered throughout the standee, more so around the edges. The back of the standee has masking tape in the areas where the backing that allowed it to stand up was originally attached, and there is some surface paper loss in those areas, but they do not affect the front. The replacement backing pieces, which are not from this standee (see above), were taken from a different standee, and they have surface paper loss where they were removed. Obviously, one would prefer to find a better condition example of this ultra rare standee, but we don't know if another one exists, and if it does, if it is in equal or better condition (and of course, one could choose to have restoration performed to this standee).
