Date Sold 7/19/2005Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Title Lobby Card (measures 11" x 14") (Learn More) The Day the Earth Stood Still, the classic 1951 Robert Wise science fiction (sci-fi) alien-contact thriller ("From out of space.... a warning and an ultimatum!"; "Strange power from another planet menaces the Earth!"; from the story by Harry Bates; about a super intelligent alien visiting the Earth, and mankind mistrusts him without reason; he is able to "pass" as a human, and he visits the world's greatest scientist, and when he is injured and taken to a hospital, he is rescued by his robot Gort) starring Michael Rennie (as Klaatu), Patricia Neal, Hugh Marlowe, Sam Jaffe, Billy Gray, Frances Bavier, and Lock Martin (as Gort the Robot). Note that the unusual music heard in this movie was achieved through the use of the musical instrument called a theramin, and audiences loved the eerie sounds it made, and it became standard in many science fiction movies thereafter to use this instrument in the same way! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this card was once attached to something with tape in the extreme top of the top blank border (in the left and right). Someone removed the tape, and in doing so removed slight surface paper at the right edge of each area. The remaining part of each formerly taped area has a very small amount of tape residue. The card had two pinholes near the top of the left blank border and two tiny pinholes in the top right blank corner. Other than the above very minor defects, which are entirely in the top blank border, the card has the most minor of creases in the blank borders, and a few extremely faint creases and scuffs within the image background. The person who owned this card chose not to do ANY restoration to it (feeling that it was remarkable that this card survived in such excellent unrestored condition. Certainly the new owner of this card could have the two areas in the top blank border restored, if they felt that was appropriate. Either exactly as it is, or with the tiny amount of professional restoration that could be done, this card is in wonderful condition, and I would think virtually every collector would be thrilled to display it on their wall! INSTEAD OF OUR REGULAR "SUPER-SIZED" IMAGE, WE ARE INCLUDING A "SUPER-DUPER-SIZED" IMAGE OF BOTH THE FRONT AND BACK OF THIS GREAT LOBBY CARD, so that everybody can see exactly what great condition it is in! Condition: fine. Learn More about condition grades
