It was founded in 1955 in what was East Berlin, as a counterpart of the famous Berlin Zoological Garden in West Berlin. Tierpark Berlin is located in Friedrichsfelde on the former grounds of Friedrichsfelde Palace, which is situated within the zoo. It is the largest zoo in Europe, and features over 8000 animals (from 650 species) on 160 hectares. Artist: Horst Naumann Important Added Info: Note that when you look at this poster in person, it is hard to believe it is not from the 1930s! That is because it was created in 1963 with an intentional "retro" design, inspired by the great 1930s German circus posters. The artwork was re-used in 1976 and 1984, and the only way to spot this is the tiny printer information in the lower-left corner. This poster is from 1976! Condition: very good to fine.
