1d0020 LOT OF 1 SCREEN STORIES JULY 1937 - DECEMBER 1937 ENGLISH MOVIE MAGAZINE BOUND VOLUME 1937

Date Sold 11/28/2021
Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price.

a lot of 1 bound volume of 1937 issues of Screen Stories, one of the many movie magazines sold to the public. Each issue features a great full color cover of a leading star of the day, plus condensed short "novelizations" of a group of then-currently playing movies (one would be longer and run as a "complete novel", and some "special features", which were typical publicity stories like what was then in other movie magazines). Each of the novelizations has lots of sepia images taken from the movie, plus portraits of some of the stars. Also, in every issue are many wonderful vintage ads, some in color and some in black and white, and sometimes the ads can be just as much fun as the original stories and pictures. Of course, some of the ads are from movies that were about to open, and in the early days of eBay, people would remove those full-page ads and auction them by themselves, and they would often sell for $10, $20, or more, just for a single movie ad removed from a magazine just like this! Note that someone at the bindery company that prepared these bound volumes was having a bad day when they did this volume, because they had "SCREEN STORIES" printed on the spine, but actually, the bound volume contains issues of "Screen Romances"! We wonder if someone got fired over this.
Measurements: 9" x 11 1/2"

Condition: good to very good. Other than being bound into the bound volume, the issues of the magazine are in pretty nice condition (we have pictured three interior covers to give you a sense of the condition of the volume, but of course, we wish we could have pictured all the covers and the table of contents for each magazine, but time does not allow that).
