A 1954 Re-Release Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 27" x 41") (Learn More) The Fighting Seabees, the 1944 Edward Ludwig World War II (WWII) United States Navy military romantic action thriller ("Romance of the Seven Seas") starring John Wayne, Susan Hayward, Dennis O'Keefe, William Frawley, Leonid Kinskey, J.M. Kerrigan, Grant Withers, Ben Welden, Duncan Renaldo, and Adele Mara (uncredited as Twinkles Tucker the Jitterbugger). Note that the Seabees were members of the United States Navy who were assigned to the Construction Battalion, and were called "C.B.", which was corrupted to "Seabees"! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: good to very good. This poster was linenbacked, but it was either NOT linenbacked by a very talented restorer, or it was linenbacked many years ago, and has received rough handling over the years. You can see signs of the restoration from a distance. This is a poster that would greatly benefit from additional professional restoration. See below for this poster's pre-restoration condition (we are the only major auction company we know of that shares this information with our bidders, but we wish everyone did!). good. The poster had many tears and small areas of paper loss down the vertical foldline (and to a lesser extent, on the horizontal foldlines), and there was a silver-dollar-sized area of paper loss at the middle crossfold. There were pinholes in the corners. Whoever restored the poster did not do a very good job of matching their restoration to the actual poster, and so it is noticeable, even from a distance away.
