Date Sold 4/14/2022Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Folded World War II Poster (measures 20 1/4" x 27" [51 x 69 cm]) (Learn More) Wanted for Victory, the 1942 U.S. World War II (WWII) Home Front poster ("Waste paper old rags scrap metals old rubber"; "Get in the scrap"; "Sell to a collector or give to a charity") encouraging people to donate or sell their scraps for the war effort, and featuring an image of a family going through their scraps! Note that it is common knowledge that there were massive shortages of many materials during World War II, and that included paper, which caused many companies that relied on paper (like newspapers and magazines, but also movie studios, because of their need for posters) to cut back on how much paper they used. This poster is confirmation that people were recycling old paper in 1942, early in the U.S.'s involvement in the war, and that probably included lots of great old movie posters, which helps explain their great rarity. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: good to very good. The poster once had strips of tape at left and right (see our image). Learn More about condition grades
