An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Two-Sided Movie Special Poster (WC; measures 9" x 25" [23 x 64 cm]) (Learn More)

Animal Crackers, the classic 1930 Victor Heerman crime screwball comedy starring The Marx Brothers (Groucho, Harpo, Chico, and Zeppo), Lillian Roth, Margaret Dumont, Louis Sorin, Hal Thompson, and Margaret Irving. Note that this movie features the classic line, "One morning I shot an elephant in my pajamas. How he got in my pajamas, I don't know."!

If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: We would think this special poster is surely from 1930, and that it was designed as a "topper" for a one-sheet frame, to be displayed above a one-sheet. But what does "Fort Now" (written on the left and right) mean? Was it a theater called "Fort Now"? Was it a theater called "Fort" and the now referred to what was now showing? Also, the poster is double-sided (see below), but how would it be displayed so that both sides showed? We don't have any answers, but this certainly is an incredibly rare poster. It was consigned to us from the estate of a man who collected mostly in the 1960s and 1970s, and he has passed away, so we can't ask him any questions. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Note also that this special poster has the same image on both sides but with different coloring on each side. We have provided an image of each side, and please realize that the winner of this auction will receive ONE poster! It is on a somewhat heavy paper stock, similar to that used on window cards, and it cannot possibly be rolled and must be sent in a flat package that measures 11" x 27".

Note that this item needs to be shipped in an oversized flat package. Most of these items absolutely can only be sent in flat packages, and could not possibly be rolled into a tube. Some of them might SEEM like they could be rolled in a tube, like a half-sheet, but they can't. The reason these items are in this auction is specifically because they CAN'T be rolled (because rolling any of them would damage them, even if they somehow can be rolled). So please bear in mind that this item must be sent in a LARGE flat package (the size of the package will depend on the size of the item when ready for shipping), and bear this added expense in mind before placing a bid on it. IN THE CASE OF EXTREMELY LARGE FLAT ITEMS, THE SHIPPING COST WILL BE VERY HIGH, SO PLEASE DO NOT BID WITHOUT THINKING ABOUT THAT ADDED SHIPPING AMOUNT, AND INCLUDE THAT AMOUNT IN WHAT YOU BID (so if you would pay $150, but the shipping is likely $100, then only bid $50). And those who live outside the U.S. and who do not have a U.S. address to ship to SHOULD NOT BID AT ALL ON EXTREMELY LARGE FLAT ITEMS, BECAUSE THEY COST HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS TO SEND OUTSIDE THE U.S.

Condition: good to very good. Both sides of the poster have some staining and scuffing scattered throughout. Some of it appears to be printing defects. There is a tear in the right of the top border of one side that has a piece of clear tape but otherwise no restoration has been performed.
