An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) The Great Flamarion, the 1945 Anthony Mann romantic love triangle murder crime thriller ("Great with a gun... and he's got to kill!"; "Based on a character 'BIG SHOT' by Vicki Baum from Collier's Magazine"; a really cool story about a pretty vaudeville singer who seduces an expert vaudeville marksman so that he will kill her husband so they can run off together, but once he does it, and gets away with it, she actually runs off with another man, who is her true love!; the marksman spends a long time and all his money tracking her down, and when he finds her performing, she tells him backstage that she still loves him and will run away with him, but he doesn't buy it, and he strangles her, but not before she manages to shoot him, and before he dies, he tells the entire sad story in flashback) starring Erich Von Stroheim (in the title role as The Great Flamarion), Mary Beth Hughes, Dan Duryea, Stephen Barclay, and Lester Allen. Note that this movie was produced by W. Lee Wilder. He was the older, and far less famous, brother of Billy Wilder, and they apparently had a very rancorous relationship! W. Lee is billed as "William Wilder" for this movie, which no doubt bothered his brother quite a bit (strangely, Billy Wilder's first name was actually Samuel, and somehow he took the first name of his brother!). W. Lee Wilder produced and directed less than 20 movies. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: fair to good. There are many creases, tattering and areas of paper loss mostly along the edges and foldlines, most of which has been repaired with much tape from the back (some of which slightly bleeds through to the front, especially along the vertical fold). There are a few small areas of paper loss in the upper quarter of the poster (notably one in the art of Stroheim's forehead) which has been amateurishly repaired with orange marker and tape from the back. There is a burn hole at the end of the art of the cigarette. There is writing on the back that very slightly bleeds through to the front at upper center, right upper center and throughout the artwork of Hughes at upper right. Learn More about condition grades
