An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Glass Slide (measures approximately 3" x 4") (Learn More) Son of Monte Cristo, the 1940 Rowland V. Lee revenge adventure thriller ("WHO is the deadly Torch whom fighting men fear?"; "WHO defies his enemies with a council table surrounded by dead men?"; "WHO makes a perilous escape through secret doors to the city's sewers?"; "Slashing His Way to Fame Greater Than Dumas' Dashing Adventurer"; "...As...He...Drew...Closer... Danger kissed a lady, love and alone"; "The glory of the world's greatest romance lives again"; "The son of Monte Cristo.. gallant heir to a gallant father's daring.. steals the lovely bride at another man's wedding.. gallops away with her to the most glamorous adventures you've seen since 'Monte Cristo'!"; "A new, more thrilling Monte Cristo story from the same producer and director in the same high entertainment tradition!"; "A lady in danger!"; "A reckless adventurer"; "Edward Small the producer who made the never-forgotten 'Monte Cristo' now continues its exciting romance in The Son of Monte Cristo") starring Louis Hayward (as Edmund Dantes Jr./The Torch), Joan Bennett, George Sanders, Florence Bates, Montagu Love (billed as "Montague Love"), Clayton Moore, and Ralph Byrd. Note that this movie included a masked avenger, very similar to Zorro, and was a sequel of sorts to 1939's "Man in the Iron Mask". NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this slide comes with the protective cardboard holders that were placed over each side of the glass when they were shipped to theaters (to prevent breakage), and they obviously worked well, or otherwise they would have had to send them a different way! 99% of the time, theaters discarded these cardboard inserts, and so they are almost never found with the slide, but this slide has its original cardboard inserts! Glass slides were designed to be put in a special projector that would project the image onto a movie screen (they use exactly the same concept as 35mm slides). We have taken a digital photo of each that shows the general condition of the overall slide and holder, and we have also made a digital scan that shows the glass image well, but does not show the holder (except as a dark outline). Condition: fine. This glass slide is in really excellent condition, and we feel that EVERY collector would be happy to own it. It IS possible it may have a MINOR defect or defects, but nothing at all significant. But we bet many dealers would call items in this grade "mint" or "near mint"! Learn More about condition grades
