Rodgers & Hammerstein's Oklahoma!, the classic 1956 Fred Zinnemann romantic cowboy western musical ("The motion picture that ran for a year on Broadway at $3.50! - complete - intact - with every scene, every song! Now at popular prices!"; "Now you can see it at popular prices!"; "Now everyone can see it at popular prices!"; "Complete-Intact with every scene, every song of the motion picture that ran a year on Broadway!"; "Complete - intact - with every scene, every song of the motion picture that ran a year on Broadway at $3.50!"; "IT'S HERE! The best-loved Musical Romance of our time!"; "A breath-taking motion picture as big as all outdoors!"; "It's here at popular prices!"; "Music by Richard Rodgers"; "Book and Lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II"; "Dances staged by Agnes DeMille") starring Gordon MacRae (as Curly), Gloria Grahame (as Ado Annie), Shirley Jones (as Laurey), Gene Nelson (as Will Parker), Charlotte Greenwood (Aunt Eller), Eddie Albert ( as Ali Hakim), James Whitmore (as Mr. Carnes), Rod Steiger (as Jud Fry), James Mitchell, and Bambi Lynn (Mitchell and Lynn played the "dream" Curly and Laurey in the dream dance sequence). Note that 20th Century Fox distributed this movie in the U.S., but sold the distribution rights to RKO for it's international release. Movie paper from either studio that is dated "1956" on this title are both from the original release.

Important Added Info: Note that this classic movie was first distributed in 1956 by RKO, which gave it a "roadshow" release (a limited release in major cities with higher than normal ticket prices). Normally, this would have been followed up by a second wide release "at popular prices", also by RKO, but at this exact time, RKO was folding, so the wide release was handled by 20th Century Fox instead. So the material from RKO is from the very first limited roadshow release, while the material from 20th Century-Fox is from the general release. This is the VERY rare RKO version of this poster. We have not auctioned this version of this poster before (we auctioned two posters in 2003 that we do not have images for, but in the rare case that one or both of those posters were an RKO version that was 21 years ago!

Condition: good to very good. There is a large censor stamp at upper right (see our image). There are pinholes around the edges (some are torn or enlarged due to rough removal) and there is some small blank paper loss at upper left. There is general fold and border wear but otherwise the incredibly rare poster is in pretty nice condition, and after a relatively simple linenbacking it will look great!
